Internal Communications

Internal communication has never been more important. Whether it’s communicating with staff halfway around the world or just across town working out of their living rooms, ensuring continue alignment through communication is critical.

Katrin’s experience working in large, global organizations includes an organized internal communications component that was either part of a broader campaign (e.g., announcing corporate partnership externally). Or as a stand-alone effort to familiarize staff with program experts and division initiatives.

Katrin frequently worked with leadership to prepare them for events like Town Hall meetings, division presentations, and webinars.

Katrin’s internal communications experience includes:

  • Devised creative ways to engage staff on important milestones around corporate partnerships. For example, hosted a morning coffee tasting for staff as a way to steer their attention toward a new initiative involving Conservation International’s partnership with Starbucks.
  • Prepared leadership through meeting prep, presentation materials, etc. For example, using one of The Nature Conservancy's Town Hall meetings to introduce staff to NatureVest, a startup division of the Conservancy.
  • Wrote internal briefing materials and backgrounder documents for internal audiences. For example, wrote a backgrounder for Transamerica’s marketing staff that provided a thorough overview of key longevity-related issues tied to their business (e.g., healthcare costs in retirement). The information was then used in content for internal and external audiences.
